About the Mechaquartz

Mechaquartz

The Furlan Marri Mechaquartz collection beautifully combines world-class horological creativity with modern technology while drawing from the rich watchmaking history of the 1940s. This collection uses Mechaquartz movements, a hybrid technology developed and incorporated by innovators like Piguet, LeCoultre, and Seiko during the quartz crisis of the late 1980s. These movements offer the precision of quartz with the mechanical feeling of a sweeping second hand, a nod to the traditional mechanical watches of bygone eras. The design of the Mechaquartz line is deeply influenced by François Borgel, a legendary case maker who patented the first waterproof screw-down case back in 1931. Its heritage is reflected in the collection's distinctive "tasti tondi" pushers, which mirror the design of mid-century chronographs. Each piece in the collection evokes a sense of nostalgia while remaining equipped with modern features for everyday use, making the Mechaquartz collection a perfect blend of history and contemporary craftsmanship.
